Real Men Drink Wine

From Motor Oil to Elixir?

Randy Lewis

Randy Lewis is a five-time starter in the famous Indy 500, driving from 1983 to 1991. Wine was always his passion after racing and if you visit the website for his winery, Lewis Cellars, it's obvious (make sure your sound is on!).

We tasted Lewis Cellars 2008 called Alec's Blend. Made from Syrah, Merlot, and Cabernet, it's lush, fruity but not too sweet, a little spicy and abolutely delicious. Check out our tasting notes.  The vineyard makes small productions, so the wines can be hard to find. If you see it at the store, grab it! In fact grab lots!

It's not clear in what way driving race cars is like making wines, unless you think about both processes requiring a serious dedication and passion, attention to detail, and ability to maneuver and change course under pressure. While he probably doesn't cultivate the vineyards by speeding through them in a race car (as awesome as that would be to see!) Randy has clearly made the transition from driver to vineyard owner.
